Valleys School of Theology is run by Noddfa Church.

Noddfa Church is located in the North of Torfaen in one of the poorest Valleys in Wales. The local schools double the Welsh national average for Free School Meal provision and our Valley has the highest percentage of children in the care system in the UK.

In 2014 Noddfa Church was just months away from closure with a remnant of elderly souls and a single digit congregation. Today we serve over three hundred people a week through our various ministries (School work, Youth clubs, Food Hubs, Bible Studies, Prayer meetings, Sunday Services). We have seen many lives transformed by the Gospel.

Noddfa Church has won several awards for services to the community and has welcomed much attention from local and national Press, TV and Radio coverage because of the work the Lord is doing with us. Noddfa Church is known for its famous Carol Service held under a Mining Arch that welcomes over a thousand guests each year and 17,000 viewed it live online during the pandemic.

If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame.” Proverbs 18:13

The working class are suffering, they endure long shifts in tough environments just to make ends meet. They need to be listened to, loved and appreciated. Noddfa has created a church model that works for them. Noddfa is open every day of the week offering support and rest for their family. The benefit classes are dependent and crave purpose. Noddfa provides stability, consistency and respect, empowering many to serve Jesus through various ministries.

Each Valley has its own unique culture. The principle is to listen to their needs and answer with the Gospel.

Supporting such a demographic comes at great cost.

The Church has counselled several families who have lost loved ones to suicide, including a 16 year old transgender child who attended the church youth club.

The Church has earned the trust of local government, schools and support groups to help those with addiction, homeless, mental health issues and poverty.

Volunteers have been attacked verbally and physically and the church and manse have broken into five times in as many years.

VST provide on the job, real-time, ministry training, putting theory into practice from day one, bringing the love of Jesus to the poor in the Welsh Valleys.
